What You’ll Need

Here are all of the components I use in this deviled egg dip. Many of the ingredients like mayo, mustard, paprika, etc are found in classic deviled eggs so you still get that flavor in the dip. You will find the exact measurements in the recipe card below.

  • Eggs: Ensure you boil, cool, and peel your eggs before you get started on the dip. You may place them in the refrigerator to cool faster if you prefer. I find it takes at least 10 minutes to hard boil large eggs.
  • Cream cheese: The rich and creamy texture of the cream cheese goes great in this dip. I love the tangy flavor, too. Allow it to soften so it’s easy to mix with the other ingredients.
  • Mayonnaise: For the classic creamy creature and fatty flavors you get in deviled eggs, you need mayo. Use any brand that you like- my favorite is Hellmann’s.
  • Mustard: Yellow mustard has a tangy and slightly spicy flavor that brightens up the dip. You may use Dijon mustard if you want a stronger kick. I like yellow mustard because it adds to the classic yellow color.
  • Relish: You may use sweet or dill relish in this deviled egg dip. I like to use sweet relish to balance the flavors!
  • Spices: I add paprika and chives for color and a subtle onion flavor. I reserve a little extra to sprinkle on top of the dip for the presentation.

Tips and Variations

  • Spicy dip. Make a spicy version of this dip! Diced jalapenos or your favorite hot sauce are great ways to bring the heat. You may also add a touch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for spice. They even work as a spicy garnish!
  • Cheddar bacon. Try this deviled egg dip with cheese and bacon! Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and chopped cooked bacon for a tasty rendition. Sliced green onions make the perfect garnish for this flavor variation.
  • Allow the eggs to cool completely. Ensure your hard-boiled eggs are completely cooled before you add the other ingredients. I like to allow them a few minutes to cool so I can safely peel them and then place them in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes before making the dip.
  • Do not freeze it. I don’t recommend saving this deviled egg dip in the freezer. When it thaws, it tends to separate and take on extra moisture that messes with the texture. Keep it in the refrigerator or toss the extra.
